A pleasant lowland stroll in the West Pennine Moors

From the Anglezarke Reservoir car park, walk down the entrance road, taking the right hand fork at the bottom, and again at the next junction. Follow the road round the south end of the reservoir, then take the path to the right. Initially there is a stone wall to your right. Follow the path, which sticks close to the side of the reservoir, then follows a broken wall below the embankment of the reservoir, until, at a gate you come to Back Lane.

Go right down Back Lane, taking the first driveway on the right, which is signposted as a bridleway, The path goes off to the left immediately in fron of the farm. Follow this path for about a mile, ignoring the first path to cross it. You then come to have a path coming in from your right, and two paths on the left about 20 or 30 ft apart, the second of which is signposted - take either of these, as they both join up shortly afterwards to take you up Grey Hill Once past the trees to your right, follow the path round to the right, past the small quarry workings

As you approach the woods of Healey Nab, ignore the path going of to your left and carry on down the side of the woods until there is a gate to your left - go through the gate, and follow the path into the woods, until you come to the back of a quarry. The path goes to the right round the back of the quarry, then swings round in front of the quarry. After crossing in front of the quarry, take the first track on the left which is a wide track through thick woods with a stile and gate into an open field at the end. The path continues straight across the field, past the house at Higher Healey and right onto Higher House Lane then left down the signposted path. This crosses the field, then approaches a stream at the far side - do not follow the stream but carry straight on across the eastern end of a small reservoir, then right up the road

Follow this road/track to White Coppice Cricket Club (signed WCCC in places), going between the pitch and the pavilion, then take the bridge over the Goit and turn right. This path goes on for about 1 km until it meets the road over the top end of Anglezarke Reservoir. Go left up the road, then take the signed path on the right 40 or 50 yards away. This skirts the Northeast side of Anglezarke Reservoir, then drops down to the bottom of the embankment of High Bullough reservoir Carry straight on down the side of High Bullough reservoir, dropping down to the side of Anglezarke Reservoir.

Walking along the surfaced track with the stone wall on your right, look out for a tarmacced path to the left opposite the red signpost for the Woodland trail. Take the tarmacced path for a gentle ascent back up to the car
