From the top of the car park access road, take the metal stile on the right, signposted 'Anglezarke Trail'. Follow the tarmac path, which takes you through the old quarry, to join a wider track by the side of Anglezarke Reservoir. Go right, following the track as it starts to wind uphill.
By the information board on the left of the track, take the path on the left into the woodlands, and you will get some beautiful views over the reservoir into a westering sun if you start late in the day. After numerous stiles and gates, the path drops down to the base of High Bullough Reservoir (So it should be 4 Reservoirs Walk !). At the path junction just before the dam, you could, if you wanted a very short walk, go right and back the car park, but we are going to carry on, along the base of the dam and the other side of the valley. Follow the signed path up to Manor House and go right on to the road

Take the road round to the 90' bend at Jepsons Gate, and go through the middle of the three metal gates. Follow this path down into Leadmines Clough. By the information board in the clough, do not take the gravel path, but go up the narrow path on the left which will take you to the memorial for an RAF crew lost on the moors in 1943. There is a cache hidden nearby, and benches offer the opportunity to take in the view of Winter Hill and beyond |
From the memorial, follow the same path back downhill, turning off halfway down. This takes you back to the main gravel path in the clough - follow it upstream, over the bridge, and down the other side. Carry on for some way with the stream on your right, until the route takes you over the stream and down to Alance Bridge. Here, you can take the road right, back to the car park, if you wish, but we will go left and uphill.

At the signpost on the right, go into the field, keeping the row ow rushes on your left. At the break in the rushes, go to the left of the fenced trees, and head for the stile on the other side of the field, or the gap in the fence further uphill than the stile. Once in the field on the other side of the fence, keep to the top of the field and head for the waymark on the horizon, then down to the wall at the bottom of the field and alongside Yarrow reservoir. At the end of the reservoir, go through the stile to a tarmac track, past Dean House. Where the road kinks right and left, a path to your right offers the final short cut back to the car park, but we carry on to the end of the track
At the end of the track, take the road right over the causeway, and at the far end of the causeway, right again down the track by Horrobin House, alongside Upper Rivington Reservoir. At the end of the lane, a right turn takes you back onto the road, and back to the car park
