A classic 10 miler over the Peak Districts most significant Peak. This walk takes you through the countryside immortalised in the song 'The Manchester Rambler', which has become the unofficial anthem for walkers of north west origin. A plaque in the car park commemorates the 1932 Kinder Trespass, when walkers from the cities of the industrial north fought with gamekeepers for the right to walk the open country .... a right we still do not have

- Park in the Bowden Bridge car park at 048869 if you can. This is a very popular car park and fills quickly. The alternative to to park on the road where permitted, or in the car par back in Hayfield. From here cross the river and head north up the Kinder Valley through woodlands, crossing the river some way below the reservoir
- Pass round the back of the buildings then double back uphill to walk along White Brow rather than go along the shore of the reservoir and commence the haul up William Clough, which will get the circulation going
- The well trodden path you turn left along here is the Pennine Way. In inclement weather, the wall you meet after 3-400 yards may represent the last shelter for some while, so this may be the place to eat your sandwiches. Refreshed, continue until you come to
- Kinder Downfall, a 'monumental and profound ravine' which in good weather is a good but very popular place to stop for lunch. If you stop here, please make a point of taking everything home with you. From the Downfall, follow the path to Kinder Low then start to drop down into the col which separates the Sett Valley from that of Edale
- Where the paths cross, turn right again down a 'green lane', past Edale Cross. Shortly afterwards, take the stile on the right and follow the hill round then drop down to Tunstead Clough Farm. From here, follow the track back to the car park
- Go home and put your feet up - or stop in Hayfield for a pint
