A brief stroll from Rosthwaite down the B5289 then take the minor road on the left for Stonethwaite. Walk through the pretty little village, past the Langstrath Country Inn. If you want to know what it is like there now, click here to see their webcam
Take the track that you can see on the webcam, which goes through the campsite, then meanders along for a while before heading right up Langstrath. A few hundred meters along the track into Langstrath, take the footbridge over Langstrath Beck. (You can, of course, walk as far as you wish up Langstrath and double back, or cross over one of the higher bridges - but if your staying and the Scafell Hotel, you don't want to miss Sunday lunch

A short walk down the other side of Langstrath Beck takes you to the bridge over Stonethwaite Beck. This path follows the side of the stream almost all the way back to Rosthwaite, where, just after the Scafell hotel, a small road bridge on the left over the beck takes you back into the village
